Prevention in Motion

As part of the ongoing development of the harassment and abuse prevention program, the British Columbia Ringette Association (BCRA) has engaged the Canadian Red Cross Association to provide additional facilitator and resource support to meet our risk management obligations. This is in response to the membership demand.

As part of the evolution, the program formally known as “It’s More Than Just a Game” will now be called “Prevention in Motion”. All participants who previously participated in BCRA’s “It’s More Then Just a Game” program prior to 2008 will be recognized as certified. There is no recertification required.

The following information outlines the direction of the program and certification process.
  1. Certification Requirement: All bench staff (bunny to belle) are required to be certified in BCRA’s Prevention in Motion or any of the following certification equivalent courses. The deadline for bench staff qualifications is January 1 of the current playing season. Note: Acceptance is based on proof of completion/certification for a program in 2005 or later.
  1. Clinics: BCRA will provide clinic locations and dates in consultation with leagues and associations for its Prevention in Motion program. Bench staff may also take this course through the sources listed above. To host a clinic please complete the online Clinic Hosting Application Form.
BCRA and the Canadian Red Cross highly recommend that all executive board members, officials, and parents participate in this valuable training.

For information about upcoming Prevention in Motion clinics please visit the BCRA website. If your association is interested in hosting a Prevention in Motion clinic please complete the Clinic Hosting Application form found on the BCRA website.

BCRA takes the issue of harassment and abuse seriously and as such we thank you for your full cooperation in advance.
